Based on an accurate and verified dynamic simulation model of the plant, studies of a series of operating situations (start-up, shut down, flow and pressure limit situations, first and second fault situations, etc.) may be carried out to determine that the control system design and performance will cope with all these eventualities.
TSC has on many occasions used such a dynamic model to determine that safety systems such as HIPPS and burst disc protection will dynamically perform in all circumstances.
Dynamic simulation is the only practical way of demonstrating the performance of such systems in many circumstances, particularly in situations involving potentially explosive or toxic/nuclear releases.
TSC has a special expertise in the plant and control/safety verification of pipeline feeds, compressor stations and underground storage facilities for gas systems. TSC has been responsible for most of the studies on the UK National Transmission Systems since 1997, including for 15 compressor stations, 5 underground storage facilities, and three international pipeline interconnects to the UK system.
