SIM 2206 Pressure Control – Ratio

SIM 2206 Ratio Pressure Control Model shows a vertical closed pressure vessel being fed with a supply of nitrogen. The nitrogen exits the vessel through a single line with a valve controlling the flow.

About The SIm

Model Description

The pressure in the vessel is indirectly controlled by a flow controller on the vessel outlet flow taking its set point from the inlet flow to the vessel. This set point can be altered by applying a ratio variable multiplied by the inlet flow to allow the vessel to be slowly filled or emptied even with a variable inlet flow.

The feed to the vessel can be varied by introducing a second flow of gas to test the effect on the pressure control system.

Disturbances can be added to the upstream and downstream pressures of the system to allow realistic learning on how the control method responds to the type of disturbances found on a real plant.

The P&ID settings of the controller can be altered to improve the tuning of the controller for the various conditions that can be created.

This simulation includes exercise’s based around the tuning of the pressure control systems.
